Paediatric First Aid is aimed at those who are responsible for the care and well being of babies and young children.

Childminders and nursery staff

What they will learn

Basic Lifesaving for babies and young children, First aid for babies and young children and the relevant regulations.

Course Content

• Dealing with shock, extreme heat & cold
• Resuscitation
• Planning for and dealing with an emergency
• Internal & External bleeding
• Penetration wounds, burns & scalds
• Choking
• Suspected fractures, head, neck and back injuries
• Poisoning, bites and stings
• Dealing with febrile convulsions
• Recognising & responding to chronic medical conditions, Meningitis and anaphylactic shock
• Record Keeping

Course Duration

Two Days (12 Hours)

Assessment

Continuous assessment throughout the day.
